PAK DAY LA RELIEF EFFORT FOR PAKISTAN As Muslims around the world continue observing the daylong Ramadan fasts, many of Pakistan’s flood victims are starving long into the night. But the victims aren’t just hungry, they are thirsty, cold, sick, and scared. The scale of Pakistan's floods is worse than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake combined. Shortages of food, water, clothing, shelter, and supplies are making it difficult for the victims. An area the size of England is still submerged in floodwaters and an estimated one million homes have been destroyed or damaged. Tens of thousands continue to flee their homes for the highlands as flooding still threaten villages with destruction. We all feel the pain of our fellow Pakistanis and we all want to help but we want to make sure that our aid gets to the affected people ASAP. With this objective in mind, the Organizing Committee Members of Pak Day Los Angeles (Ismail Keekeebhai, Zubair Rawda, YKKB, Majeed Sheikh and Sameer Moosani) have organized relief efforts for the flood victims. Organizing Committee Members of Pak Day Los Angeles will raise cash donations to buy the much needed food and supplies and have these goods distributed to the affected people under the watch and supervision of Project and Distribution Coordinator, YKKB. These goods will be handed to our brothers and sisters in need in the most efficient and timely manner.Ismail Keekeebhai along with Yousuf Keekeebhai, members of Pak Day Los Angles have already raised $60,000 from friends, family members, and the community at King Fahad Mosque in Culver City. COPAA Board of Director Zubair Rawda has already raised $15,000 from his friends and family member. Thus far, by the grace of Allah, $80,000 (Eighty Thousand Dollars) has already been raised and it is growing each day through the support from the Pakistani community members and the painstaking efforts of the Pak Day Organizers day and night.
Pak Day LA directors are in contact with the GHQ (Pakistan Army General Head Quarters) and other relief agencies who are working on the ground in Pakistan to arrange ready to eat halal foods, tents for temporary housing, raw foods, and other much needed necessary items for those who are in need. Once again, these items will be distributed to the flood victims under the direct supervision of Project and Distribution Coordinator, Yousuf Keekeebhai in Pakistan.
We urge you to please support us in this cause. We urge you to support a nation in need. We urge you to give back to Pakistan when it needs us the most. We also urge you to donate generously. It is our pledge that every dollar of your donation will be used towards providing relief to the right person and for the right cause; considering we do NOT have any administrative costs and all of our work from the directors is solemnly based on a voluntary basis.
